오래된 것에서 오는 따스함이 있다. 우리는 본디 따스한 온기 속에 평온함을 느낀다. 서예를 전공한 나는, 한지에 깊은 매력을 느낀 이후, 서예의 다양한 방식에 대해 생각해 왔다. 그동안 문자로 표현한 예술의 형태에서 탈피할 뿐 아니라 추상화의 본질에는 이야기의 힘이 있다는 것을 느낀다. 오래된 것은 따스함을 전해주고, 한지의 은은함은 마음의 안정을 주었다. _ 성연화 작가노트 중 I use traditional eastern materials and techniques like calligraphy and hanji, handmade Korean paper, and blend them with acrylics and coffee. I love the warmth and tranquility of all that is ancient and I try to convey these feelings with minimalist compositions and a soft palette of beiges and browns.
